Post REVIEW: Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury...
Okay last weekend Sol and I got a ton of movies to watch now that I have a DVD player again (even though my TV leaves something to be desired), thus one of the movies we got was the Chronicles of Riddick anime short, Dark Fury.

First off, if you've seen the cover for it, you'd instantly know it was done by Peter Chung, of Aeon Flux, Phantom 2040, Animatrix, and Reign (or as Darlos calls Reign, "A buch of people without pants anime") fame. Honestly I think it was a good choice to let him do this little short as I feel his style definatly matches the feel of the movie Chronicles of Riddick (of course I think COR is like a much darker Fifth Element if you ask me when it comes to style and looks). Then again, I've always liked his unique art style and it's always fun to watch his stuff, reguardless of whether his characters are wearing pants or not.

Yes, Darlos they all had pants on in this one...

I won't ruin the story, but if you want to know what happens to Riddick, Jack and the Holy man there directly after the events of Pitch Black (the first movie we met Riddick in), this movie fills it in. Vin Diesle does voice Riddick in this, and he makes a great anime voice actor. He should do it more often should his film career ever go south (hopefully not, but he does have a great voice). I believe the guy who played the Holy man there also VA'd his character, but I think someone generic did Jack. I supposed I'll have to look that up at

The anime is only 30 minutes long, but it's a good little romp and you get to meet some bizarre characters, one of which is seen again in the main movie COR. It's a good one to rent, but I did see a great deal at Walmart that you could buy it along with COR on DVD, they had it as a two-pack which isn't a bad deal. Thus if you like Riddick, or Peter Chung, definatly check pick up this little film and check it out. :D
