Post subject:  Gankutsuou, The Count of Monte Cristo anime style

A new anime has came across my discerning eye called Gankutsuou. It's by GONZO (the kickass guys who brought us Last EXILE and Chrono Crusade....Hellsing too but I'm not a big fan of that), that is an anime interpretation of the classic Dumas story The Count of Monte Cristo. Now, this being an anime, it takes place in the far ass future, and the main character isn't Edmund Dantes, the Count, but instead the son of one of his betrayers, Albert (those who have read and remember the book will remember some other interesting details about Albert's background that I won't spoil). Young guy somewhere between the age of 16-18, I think. The art style is, well, crazy. I've seen the first three episodes and the character relationships are solid as is the plot. Definetly a keeper. If anybody ends up watching this besides me please post your thoughts on it.

The Website:

It's in Japanese, but hey, what can you do?

And if you need some fansubs you can get them from these guys through Bittorrent. They do a good job:

It's unlicensed at this point so no legal worries.

Very interesting art style for the website. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the heads up! Too bad I can't read Japanese. =(
