Post Drowtales Comic...
Remember when I said I was entering a comic contest over at Drowtales? Well, that fell through thanks to life getting in the way, but I'm finishing the comic anyway to jump start Weirdo Zone Comics with. Thus I got some new markers to play with, and I'm finishing up what I have. Here's a sample of my work so far:

The one in the middle has a weird right eye (her right, your left). Otherwise, this is pretty good. The one on the right is pretty cute. I dig the short hair...

Nice! Honestly, I'm loving it. The characters - I suppose they are Elves - look special, each in their own way. Well done! ;)

Yeah, they're Drow or Dark Elves, so that's why they look like elves Angel, they're related (but don't tell them that or they'll kill you. They don't like being reminded of that   ).

And the one you like Darlos? Her name is De'lala and she's a Drider (half Drow, half Spider).  :D

If it's any consolation to ya D'... Drider are ALWAYS supposed to be male. In Drow society it is one step punishment and one step blessing from the Drow Goddess Lolth (the "Queen of Spiders"). But Drider are on one of the lowest rungs of the HIGHLY caste based social ladder of the culture. And I've never heard of a female Drider. But then again I got all my info from playing Forgotten Realms, not reading books by Salvatore. I've only ever read one Dritz book. But according to Jai the "Drowtales" happen in a fan-based universe with divergent rules. Meh, whatever works for them I suppose.

But in my opinion De'lala (and I just HATE that name... NO self-respecting Drow should have a name that ends in "la la") is not a Drider. But she does have the spider eyes... so she must be blessed by Lolth. Lolth is a VERY pernicious deity btw. So De'lala must be either the Matron Mother (the ruler of a Drow noble House) or a daughter in contention for that position (as ALL noble born females are Priestesses of Lolth). Hmmm, and propbably not a very popular one at that... Drow cultivate secrets like they cultivate mushrooms (all traditional Drow live DEEP underground in a place called "the Underdark"). With that third eye I'll bet she could pierce the lies and illusions that many Drow cloak themselves in. Hmmm again... and Re's mind for gaming starts rolling.

MAN I love DROW! heh heh heh
And Jai's style really works with them. I believe she has captured the dignified beauty of the race. They ARE decended from Golden Elves... and have the same air of grace and etherial beauty. They just carry it with a harder quality. The Underdark is NO place for the weak.

Excellent work Goddess!

Aw... *sniff, sniff* I made up De'lala's name... It just seemed to fit somewhat...

Yeah, in Drowtales, it's somewhat the same as you can see it came from that originally, but they've grown into their own thing. You'd have to go there and read it all for yourself as I don't know if I can explain it the best. They're getting around slowly to explaining their own back-history at the moment.

That was YOUR choice of names? My bad. Sorry Goddess. But I can't help but cringe... makes me think of the Teletubby. And that vision sends a shiver down my spine. Toss a "z" or an "x" somewhere in the mix and I'm golden. De'zala or De'laxa. Now that sound's more Drowish.

Ah hell, just forget I said anything about it. I'm just like that about the Forgotten Realms. I've had arguments with other old-school gamers about one letter in one word. Silver-y-moon. *cringes* Yeech!! Makes one of the greatest cities in the Silver Marches sound totally GAY (IMHO). My group always has (and always will) call it "Silvermoon". No "y" in the name. Yeah, 2 hours of a clash of wills over a "y"! And the Drow are VERY dear to my heart. I played a Drow once... in the Underdark. There were 6 players in our group. 5 sessions later I was the only survivor. I take that with great pride as the GM was trying to get us ALL killed by the end of that game. But I managed to set Deneith' up with the right people and played him like the cut-throat, back-stabbing, self-preserving Drow that the Patriach of the 7th House should be. :D So just ignore my ramblings as I'm probably talking out my ass anyway. Please?! :)
